Haywards Heath in Mid Sussex

Haywards Heath consists of 5 electoral wards with a combined population of around 27,000. The nearby village wards of Cuckfield (5,250 inhabitants) and Lindfield (7,000 inhabitants) brings the total to nearly 40,000.

Haywards Heath considers itself "The Heart of Mid Sussex", sitting between the other two major towns in the district: East Grinstead to the North East and Burgess Hill to the South and is home to Mid Sussex District Council.

The A272 runs through the main high street (South Road), although the bypass is due to be completed in 2015 which will see the A272 diverted to the South of the town. It is also one of the main stations on the Brighton Main Line to London which also serves Gatwick Airport.

Haywards Heath Town Council has published a guide to the town. It has also recently published a draft of its neighbourhood plan for public consultation.
