Haywards Heath Local Roads and Parking

The A272 from Heathfield to Winchester runs through the town centre of Haywards Heath (South Road). Further west the A272 crosses the A23 between London and Brighton.

Pieter Boogaart was so stricken with the predominantly rural A272 that he wrote the book A272: An Ode to a Road. However, the long-awaited bypass will move the A272 south, from the Princess Royal Hospital, along Rocky Lane and south of Bolnore village, which is due for completion in 2015.

South Road is occasionally shut for street festivals whilst The Broadway is sometimes closed for musical events and farmers' markets.

Haywards Heath has two one-way systems: one near the railway station; and the other along The Broadway and west end of South Road encompassing The Star and a number of shops.

Lindfield High Street is currently closed new water pipes.

Haywards Heath has a notorious parking problem and all the car parks are pay and display.
