Walking, Rambling and Hiking Groups

Mid Sussex District Council has started the Mid Sussex Healthy Walks programme to suit different levels of ability ranging up to 7miles and also walks for the visually impaired. It is run by the Mid Sussex Park Rangers. 30 minute walks on paved paths are every Monday 10am from Lindfield Common Car Park and Wednesday 11am from Age UK in Perrymount Road.

Haywards Heath and District U3A has a walks group that meets monthly on either Tuesdays or Fridays 10am or noon. Walks are usually four or five miles taking around two hours. Members only.

For the more adventurous, the Mid Sussex Ramblers have longer walks. Prospective new members can participate in several walks before joining the Ramblers Association.

For the really serious, the Sussex Long Distance Walkers have much lengthier walks. They consider a long distance walk to be over 20 miles but have some shorter social and training walks. Although it is not necessary to join the Long Distance Walkers Association prior to participating in a walk, it is advisable to contact the walk leader first.
